Council criticises SES ‘gobbledygook’

A Grant district councillor has described a letter from SES headquarters over its plan to relocate two senior Mount Gambier employees to Murray Bridge as “gobbledygook”.
Cr Alan Hill said he read the letter from SA SES chief officer Stuart Macleod five times and still did not get a grasp of what he was saying. Read more
Fallen trees pose danger

State Emergency Service (SES) crews have responded to numerous tree-related jobs over the past 48 hours.
SES deputy chief officer Matt Maywald says that as temperatures increase, trees may without warning drop their branches. Read more

Ten community organisations have expressed interest in occupying the former SES building at Frew Park.
Mount Gambier City Council called for expressions of interest from community groups that wished to occupy the brick building. Read more

The State Emergency Service has announced a “strategic realignment” that will see two Mount Gambier operations personnel transferred to Murray Bridge.
A senior regional officer and a part-time administrative position will be relocated to Murray Bridge early next year. Read more

Mount Gambier SES unit manager Wayne Usher has asked people needing assistance to be patient during bad weather due to high demand.
“People may rest assured their call will be placed in a queue and answered as soon as possible,” Mr Usher said. Read more
Information night on outback travel

The SES South East Operations Unit and the South East Radio Group have combined to present the night, aiming to make people more aware of safety and the necessary precautions they should take before embarking on an adventure. Read more
CFS volunteers unhappy with new HQ

Mount Gambier’s new Country Fire Service headquarters is currently a lacklustre facility, according to Operations Brigade Lieutenant Richard Harry, who has had “a gutful of bureaucratic crap”.
Mr Harry’s complaint arose following what he described as a “fat cats dinner” earlier this week, when a dozen dignitaries, including chief officer Euan Ferguson, came to Mount Gambier for a tour of the new facility. Read more
