Mount Gambier swimmer Henry Crauford has successfully defended his SA State Swimming titles in Adelaide.
Twelve-year-old Crauford, took gold in the 50 metre freestyle with a time of 29.22 seconds and gold in the 50 metre backstroke with a time of 32.34. Read more

Call to report shark sightings

PIRSA Fisheries have called on people to report shark sightings along the South East coastline to authorities amid a spate of sightings around Adelaide.
The call follows 20 sightings being recorded on just one day, a man being attacked by a three-metre great white shark and the State Government launching a summer shark spotting plane one month earlier than usual. Read more
Wattle Range pool openings delayed

Season openings for swimming facilities at Millicent, Nangwarry and Penola will be staggered to allow for upgrade works.
Seal repairs are needed on the floor of the Millicent Swimming Lakes and two new shade structures will also be added at the site. Read more
Cherianne targets London 2012

Mount Gambier teenager Cherianne Doody has taken her first step towards participating in the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
The 17-year old swimmer came fourth in freestyle 100 metres and won a bronze medal in backstroke 100 metres during the recent Youth Games in Melbourne — the official trials for the national heats in Sydney, which then lead to the London 2012 Paralympics Games. Read more
Penola pool upgrade planned

The Penola swimming pool complex is set to undergo $270,000 worth of major improvments in time for its opening in late November.
Wattle Range Council committed the money to the project in its 2009-10 budget, with the upgrades to include the pool shell, chlorination system pipelines and changerooms. Read more

Strong enrolments for Vacswim

Enrolments have been strong for the upcoming Vacswim program at Mount Gambier Aquatic Centre, despite recent media coverage of controversy over changes to the program.
Centre manager Peter Collins said he was disappointed about recent speculation over the program, fuelled by the State Opposition, and the summer water safety program would still be held at the facility from January 5 to 13. Read more
