Australia Day will be celebrated in Tarpeena on January 26 with fun family activities, a barbecue and entertainment.

The day will start at 10.30am with a bike riding event by the Mount Gambier Cycling and Triathlon Club, followed by the Tarpeena Day Gift. Read more

Car caught fire at Tarpeena

Country Fire Service crews believe a busted fuel line was responsible for a car fire on the Riddoch Highway at Tarpeena during Wednesday afternoon’s blistering 38-degree heat.

Tarpeena CFS brigade captain Peter Balnaves said he was unsure exactly how the vehicle caught alight, but suspected a petrol leak came into contact with the hot exhaust and combusted. Read more

Skate school at Tarpeena

Budding freestyle athletes are being given the opportunity to develop skills to use Tarpeena’s newly constructed skate park thanks to a specialised two-day coaching program.

The Tarpeena Skate Park Committee, Community Benefits SA, District Council of Grant and Skateboarding Australia have banded together to present the StreetWise skateboarding clinics as part of the new facility’s three-day launch this weekend. Read more

Skate park proposed for Tarpeena

Grant District Council has called for public submissions on the proposed location of the Tarpeena skate park.

The skate park is proposed to be built near the playground in the small township, following the Tarpeena community raising more than $20,000 for the proposal. Read more

Community service recognised

Outstanding community service in the Grant District Council area was recognised on Tuesday when Australia Day 2009 award winners were announced.

Nominees in each of the three categories were read out, along with the winner, although formal presentations will be at the Australia Day festivities in Port MacDonnell on January 26. Read more

Truck destroyed in fire

November 13, 2008

A truck was destroyed by fire on the Riddoch Highway about 10km north of the Mount Gambier Airport, south of Tarpeena, around 4am today.

The driver managed to escape the blaze uninjured and damage was reported to be $250,000. Investigations are continuing. Read more

Zodiacs knock out Tarpeena

Zodiacs 25 d Tarpeena 20 in the first final of the Mount Gambier Netball Association A grade competition on Saturday, eliminating them from the series.
