Macquarie backs proposed wind farm

Robe Wind Pty Ltd announced yesterday it has reached an agreement with Macquarie Capital Group Limited for the development of a wind farm along the Woakwine range between Beachport and Mount Benson.
Macquarie will be responsible for all of the ongoing development activities for the proposed wind farm. Read more

A significant new windfarm north of Millicent along the Woakwine Range will generate 420 megawatts of energy.
To be known as the Woakwine Windfarm, it will be built in three stages and more than double the current wind generation capacity of the region, which currently stands at 326 megawatts. Read more
Windfarm development proposed

Advanced planning is under way to erect a major wind farm north of Millicent on the Woakwine Range.
Leases have been secured with 30 landholders and the project could extend as far as Cape Jaffa.
The proponents are Infigen Energy (formerly known as Babcock and Brown Wind Partners) which operates the Lake Bonney Wind Farm. Read more

Thirteen new turbines for wind farm

Construction of the $120m third stage of the Lake Bonney wind farm, comprising 13 turbines, is set to begin next month.
Babcock and Brown Wind Partners Pty Ltd (BBW) already has 99 wind turbines, built in two stages, along the Woakwine Range, while a separate company, International Power, has 23. Read more
Billion-dollar wind farm project proposed

A proposed billion-dollar wind farm has been earmarked for 52km of the Woakwine Range.
The proposal, triple the size of the Lake Bonney Windfarm, involves up to 300 turbines producing 600 megawatts of energy — enough to power 132,000 homes.
The Woakwine Range stretches from Carpenter Rocks in the south to Mount Benson near Kingston and is already home to two windfarms. Read more

Grant District Council has received another development application for more turbines in its area, potentially enhancing the Lower South East as one of Australia’s largest wind energy hubs.
