STATE premier Jay Weatherill has visited the region to officially open the Blue Lake Dairy Group's processing plant in Tantanoola, which is boosting the South East economy, creating jobs and providing a long-term dairy industry asset.

Formed in 2015, the Blue Lake Dairy Group's $65m project comprises two stages, with yesterday's opening celebrating the completion of stage one.

The first stage has created 24 jobs, with that figure expected to increase to 60 employees once full production starts.

After touring the immaculate facility yesterday, Mr Weatherill addressed a large group of invitees and declared the investment a "significant event" for the South East.
