SOUTH East anglers Peter Feast and Jim Ewing have a stunning fishing tale to tell after a shark leaped into their small boat.

They say their Saturday on the water started with a surprise when the 3.2 metre thresher shark landed in their small dinghy.

Hoping to catch a few snapper and whiting at Green Point near Port MacDonnell, the pair headed out early in the morning to beat the heat.

Their weekend fishing trip in a 4.2 metre vessel was going smoothly until Mr Feast felt his line "scream" before the catch released.
