City tourism sector unites

TOURISM Mount Gambier has pledged to deliver on its founding promise and enact a strategic plan to drive the city's visitor economy.

At the inaugural annual general meeting on Wednesday evening, initial members endorsed Tourism Mount Gambier's first board and formally handed over the reins to appointed members.

Founding member Steve Perryman was appointed deputy chairperson and said the lack of a tourism industry body for the sector had prompted the initial working group.

"Our region has been without a coordinated industry body to represent it," Mr Perryman said.
